The annual Louisiana 2011 sales tax holiday will be offered the first weekend in August, beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 5 and ending at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, August 6. State sales tax will not be charged on qualifying purchases of tangible personal property on the first $2500 of the purchase price of the item. This annual event takes place on the first weekend in August unless the month starts on Saturday, in which case the tax holiday would be offered on the second weekend in August.

Items Qualifying for Louisiana Tax Free Days in 2011

The Louisiana tax holiday offers exemption from state sales tax on the purchase of qualifying tangible personal property (TPP) not for business use. If the price of the item exceeds $2500, regular state sales tax is only charged on the portion of the sale that is beyond $2500 during the tax free days.
