Matt Baker says he is “over the moon” and “can’t wait to get started” presenting The One Show. He takes over the show on 14 February and will co-host with current presenter Alex Jones from Monday to Thursday; Radio 2 Breakfast Show presenter Chris Evans co-hosts on Fridays. Other contenders for the job were Chris Evans, Matt Allwright, Rhod Gilbert and John Barrowman.

Baker replaces Jason Manford who stepped down from presenting the show in November 2010 after only four months in the job, after allegations about his private life. Manford, a married father-of-three, admitted exchanging sexual internet and text messages with female fans.
